I recently spent just over two weeks travelling in Scotland with my girlfriend Hilary. Our travels took us from Edinburgh, through Fort William, Isle of Skye, and Isle of Arran, and finally to Glasgow where we flew back to Canada from.

We did some hiking, and took looks of photos, but by far, the most exhilarating experience was driving on the left side of the road! It turned out to be a bit more of a challenge than we had anticipated but if nothing else, it kept us on our toes.

Scotland is known for it’s castles and it’s history, but it was the beautiful and vast landscapes that we couldn’t get over. From the architecture in Edinburgh and Glasgow, to the rolling and colourful hills of the highlands, to the deep valleys and glens, we never ran out of places to explore.

In typical Scottish fashion, we had a lot of rainy weather, but it just added to the experience. To counter the sometimes cold and rainy weather, however, we found that the Scottish people were some of the warmest, and most welcoming people that we had ever encountered.

There is so much to explore in Scotland, and we were only able to cover a very small portion of the country, but it’s definitely a country that I would return to.
