What is the FIX?

The FIX is a video series where I show how I edit my photos from beginning to end using several different programs such as Lightroom, Photoshop, Aurora HDR, and whatever else is required for the photo. I’ve always found that I learn best through examples rather than long boring courses, so if you’re like me in that regard, then hopefully you’ll find The FIX to be helpful.

Every week here on Find Away Photography, I post a new photo (surprisingly called the Photo of the Week) and tell the story behind the picture. The photos that I will be editing on The FIX will be some of these Photos of the Week that have been posted previously and I will be showing you the work that goes into these photos after they come out of the camera, onto my computer, and finally become a finished picture.

If you see a certain Photo fo the Week and you’re curious how it’s been edited, leave a comment on the photo in the Photo of the Week Gallery and I’ll try to include it in an upcoming episode of the FIX. At the moment, a new episode of The FIX will go live every 3 or 4 weeks.

No photo is ever the same, and how I edit changes each time depending on the photo. I also like to try new things so my technique changes and evolves all of the time based on new ideas and inspirations. But by looking at one photo at a time, you can learn what I do and apply certain parts of it to your own process so that you can develop your own creativity and style.

To me, editing and post-processing is the second half of photography besides taking the actual photo and it is where you can let your creativity and individual style shine. The FIX isn’t meant to be a full Lightroom tutorial or anything like that, but I hope that whether you are just starting out or you are already familiar with editing, you’ll be able to learn something from these episodes.
