DESCRIPTION

There’s an old shipping town along the coast of Vietnam called Hoi An where all of the streets of the old town are lit up with lanterns. It’s getting to be quite popular for tourists to visit because of the magic feeling of the narrow streets and small store fronts.

We spent a few days in Hoi An exploring the streets, hanging out in cool cafes, and eating awesome Vietnamese food.

It ended up pouring rain for a lot of the time that we were there, however, and we even saw the streets flood. In fact, one night when we returned to our guesthouse, there was several feet of water that we had to wade through to even get to our front door.

Apparently this isn’t completely uncommon, and after we left things became even worse. The rain didn’t stop, and the water continued to rise to the point where the downtown area was shutdown. We were actually very lucky with our timing.
