The main site of Machu Picchu gets all of the fame and glory, and for good reason. Especially the standard photo that you see taken from the top of the site looking down. In fact, this is almost all that you ever see of Machu Picchu, but there is so much more to see there. Not only could you explore the main site for hours going through the maze of corridors and rooms, you can also head off in a few different directions from the main site to see things like Machu PIcchu Mountain, the sun gate, Huayna Picchu, or in this case, the Inca Bridge.
The Inca Bridge is only a 10 minute walk from the main site and is a small precarious bridge built alongside the edge of a cliff face that the Incas used to use as a back entrance to Machu Picchu. It’s actually just behind me in this photo where you can’t see it at all so it’s a bit pointless talking about it after all isn’t it? But, it’s too late now.
What you do see in this photo, however, is a pretty cool stone walkway that the Incas built along side a steep cliff face. There are lots of these really impressive walk ways around the site of Machu Picchu and across many other part of Peru that were inhabited by the Incas.
