If I had to describe the transit system in Singapore, I would say that it’s efficient, clean, and fast. It’s also almost completely underground which means that when you get on at one stop, it feels like you are stepping into a portal that takes you to a different world. You can walk down the stairs in one station and walk up the stairs at another station in a place that looks completely different. I mean, really, that’s kind of the case with most transit systems but I was just trying to make things a bit dramatic.

In this case, we hopped on the train in Singapore’s Bay area with the huge towers and sky scrapers, luxury hotels, fountains, gardens and fancy pants malls and emerged in the middle of the small markets, temples, and food stalls of China Town.

In fact, this photo is the first thing that we saw in China Town and we got to the top of the stairs out of the underground MRT station and were looking straight down this street.

I set up my tripod and threw on a 10 stop ND filter to make all of the people on the street blur into a mass. It took quite a few shots until I got one where the blurred people looked cool. There was a bit of wind that also made the laterns above the street swing, but it just makes things look a bit more dreamy I suppose.
