Have you ever seen one of these things before? They are basically a train engine with a giant metal blade on the front of them, so they act like a big shovel to clear snow off of train tracks. I’m not completely sure what you would call them, but a Train Snow Plow sounds accurately descriptive, so let’s go with that. If you haven’t seen one of these plows in action, make sure to check out a video of them, like this one.

This train snow plow was parked outside of my hometown of the Crowsnest Pass for a while we were in the process of moving from the Crowsnest Pass to another nearby town called Fernie, where we’re currently living. Every time we drove by it, I wanted to stop to take a photo but for one reason or another I never had time or didn’t have a camera with me. This went on for a long time and I was sure that I was going to miss my opportunity. But one day I finally drove by it with both my camera and some time to spare.

Looking down the tracks at this thing, it’s a pretty intimidating machine and I was picturing it hurdling down the tracks at full speed tearing through banks of snow like a hot knife through butter. And how about that bright red colour right!?
