DESCRIPTION

I made a new discovery this past summer. It’s a place called Elk Lakes, just north of the town of Elkford. The drive there sucks undeniably, but it’s also likely the reason that there aren’t tons and tons of people everywhere. In fact, I went to the Elk Lakes on August Long weekend, and only saw a dozen or so groups the entire time.

The scenery and mountains at Elk Lakes are super awesome. There are several different lakes that you can get to, a glacier (which you can see the top of way in the back of the mountains), waterfalls, and great walking trails that connect them all. Plus this photo was taken about 10 steps from our campsite, so the views aren’t too bad either.
