Here’s a quick tip. Sometimes you’re in a really cool spot, but there are a bunch of people in your shot that kind of ruin it for you right? You can’t just crop them out or it’ll look wierd, photoshop wizardry won’t be able to fix it, and it’s in a spot that you can’t just wait until everyone leaves. So when that happens, sometimes a really good trick is to do a long exposure.

So in this one, I chucked my camera on a tripod quick and took a 20 second exposure. I may have had to put an ND filter on to accomplish this, I can’t totally remember. Little did you know, however, we had just finished watching a light show in the Gardens by the Bay (just behind us in the shot) and were making our way out, and we got caught in a massive group of other people doing the same thing. So we were completely surrounded by people and there was a never ending stream of them. We ended up getting out of the crowd and found a small place off to the side where we could wait it out, and that’s where I took this shot.

Even if there is a massive group of people, once you have a long exposure, they all blend together and you can see the stationary background behind them. It can take a few tries to get it right, but it’s worth the effort.
