DESCRIPTION

On a September trip to Lake O’Hara that Hilary and I made, we woke up one morning to fresh snow. It ended up being quite cold and foggy for most of our time there, but I guess that’s the risk that you sometime’s take when you spend time in the mountains during the fall.

The benefit, however, is that the mountains in the area had a light dusting of snow and as a bit of sun started to appear through the clouds in the afternoon it warmed up and the snow began to melt and fall from the mountains. This photo is of the face of Mount Schaffer and you can see small streams of snow as they crumble off of the peaks.

The other benefit of hiking in Lake O’Hara during the fall is the colour of the larch trees. I’ll make sure that a photo of the yellow larches from Lake O’Hara make it into the Photo of the Week in the future!
