DESCRIPTION

This is taken on the Three Sisters hike in Fernie BC and is the last stretch to the top. Well, not really…it’s more like the part of the hike that you feel like you’re 20 minutes from the top, and then you hike for another 20 minutes. And then you once again feel like you’re 20 minutes from the top. This the goes on for a while until you finally give up trying to guess how far you have to go. Then at some point you miraculously find yourself at the top and looking around at a 360 degree view that makes you realize why you just put yourself through the hike up.

On this particular hike, I was tenting in the saddle towards the left side of the picture and was trying to get to the peak before complete darkness fell. I had never done a peak like this in the evening so seeing the sun set over the mountains was absolutely awesome! I can also tell you that the sunset just got better and better the higher up I hiked.

This peak is the highest in the area so at the top you not only have a great view back into the town of Fernie, but you can also see the reds, yellows, and oranges of the sunset painted on the tops of all of the mountains around you.
