DESCRIPTION

The Isle of Skye in Scotland has become one of the countrys most popular tourist destinations. While this can sometimes take away from the magic of a place, it’s easy to see why. The landscape and the weather on the Isle of Skye is extremely dramatic and a few extra people on the island definitely don’t take away from this.

HIlary and I spent a few weeks in Scotland last summer and about 3 of those days were spent on the Isle of Skye. It rained for most of our time on the island and at one point, the wind was so bad that it knocked out the power in the hostel where we were staying. But even with the bad weather and the extra level of tourism, this was definitely one of our favourite parts of the trip.

This particular spot has become quite famous and is known as The Old Man of Storr. The rock spires themselves are about a half an hour walk from the closest road and there are many paths meandering in and around them that take some time to explore. Between the cloudy, dark skies, the craggy, crumbling rock faces, and the ancient green colour covering of the grass and moss, I think this spot sums up the Isle of Skye in one glance.
