DESCRIPTION

I took this photo on May 1st, and if you’re like me I know what you’re thinking…”Fall colours in May…WTF?”. This one, however, was taken in Cromwell, New Zealand which is about 30 minutes from where we are currently living in Wanaka. And as you might know, a lot of things down in New Zealand are a little bit backwards, including the seasons.

Hilary and I were driving past through Cromwell one day on a trip down to Dunedin and saw the colourful orchards along the side. We pulled in to get a bit of fresh fruit from the stand, and then took a quick walk around the orchard itself. We walked up and down several of these rows and I took an abundant amount of photos. Where else do you get such a perfect display of autumn colours? Each row was nearly identical but they all had subtle differences in the colour of the leaves. So, to Hilary’s dismay we walked up and down nearly every row to make sure we had it covered!
