DESCRIPTION

Isthmus Peak is a really cool hike near the town of Wanaka. If you haven’t been checking out my trip reports for New Zealand, then first of all, get on it! And second of all, in the trip reports I’ve mentioned that we are currently living in the town of Wanaka in New Zealand. In fact, Isthmus is the first peak that we climbed after arriving in Wanaka and it’s still one of my favourites.

This picture was taken near the top of the peak and the lake on the right is called Lake Hawea. Hiking in this part of New Zealand is really cool because there is very little for high vegetation on the mountains and hills. This means that your views are never blocked by trees or bushes which is very different than what I’m used to in Canada.

It’s always nice hiking with someone else because then you can get pictures of yourself without setting up a tripod and intervalometer. For this one, I simply handed the camera to Hilary and then ran out to stand on the rock.
